Finding the perfect time to start Christmas shopping can be difficult. If we leave it too late, we’re battling huge crowds to get to check-outs for last-minute items, and if we do it too soon, we’ve got far too much time to second guess our purchases.
However, we believe it’s always best to prepare for Christmas shopping earlier rather than later. If you’re not convinced about why you should prepare for Christmas shopping earlier, we’ve created this handy guide that will hopefully show you why it’s better to start planning your presents before the Christmas madness sets in!
One of the most obvious reasons why you should prepare for Christmas shopping early is to beat the Christmas rush. When you leave your Christmas shopping too late, you run the risk of having to fight large crowds for presents, leaving you stuck queuing for hours in stuffy department stores.
Not only is this an overwhelming and stressful experience, but it can also lead you to panic buying items that your loved ones might not like. Having to buy presents during the Christmas rush can also suck the joy out of Christmas shopping and make you forget why you’re there in the first place; to show your loved ones how much you appreciate them.
So, to keep the joy alive and ensure you don’t have to stand for hours with other stressed shoppers, start preparing early!
Doing anything at the last minute is stressful. Stress can cloud your thinking, prohibiting you from remembering important details about the best presents to get for your friends and family, so it’s best to avoid stressful shopping experiences during the festive season.
Starting to prepare your Christmas shopping early is the best way to reduce stress, as it ensures you have plenty of time to think about presents and avoids panic buying which may lead you to overspend.
Doing your Christmas shopping incrementally will also ensure that you don’t have to spend large chunks of your precious time shopping in busy areas, which reduces stress and allows you to enjoy your shopping experience.
It’s no secret that Christmas is very expensive. In fact, the average Canadian budget for gifts is around $1,308 for households across the country. As times get harder with rising inflation and the cost of living skyrocketing across the world, Canadians are finding innovative ways of making Christmas spending a little easier this year.
One of the best ways to help you budget for Christmas is to spread the cost. Spreading the cost over a few weeks, or even months, avoids having to fork out large sums of money just before the big day. This gives you plenty of time to replenish your bank account and adjust your budget for the coming weeks and months.
Avoiding to spend all of your money in one hit before Christmas will also give you greater visibility of your spending and help you budget better for other friends and family members.
During the Christmas rush, in-demand items go in the blink of an eye, making it much more difficult to secure high-value items for your loved ones, like super popular gaming consoles or the latest beauty products that teens are raving about.
Getting your Christmas shopping done early is a great way to avoid disappointment over out-of-stock items. By doing this, you won’t have to make any last-minute adjustments to Christmas lists!
If you’re struggling to get your hands on hard-to-buy items, why not consider a gift basket from MyBaskets (Consider buying our Merry Christmas Basket!)? You can buy a gift basket for your loved ones that suit their exact tastes without having to stress about leaving your home to battle the crowd of Christmas shoppers.
I had a very positive experience. Great customer service and received my basket in the time indicated. It was for a birthday gift and my friend loved it. I really like that I can pick a basket and add to it.
My son & his wife loved the basket. They were pleased with everything in the basket.

The basket was so cute and well received. We were given updated every step of the way. Also, thanks for the follow up when the note we made didn't save. Thank you for not delaying the order! Overall great experience.
I loved the service and the quality of the basket.. very neat wrapping and finishing touches.
The basket was very well received by my friend. She sent me a picture of it and I thought it looked great!
A really cute red wagon filled with baby gifts. The recipient loved it!
I don't have feedback from the recipient yet, but the process to order the basket was simple and it arrived on time, as advertised. Communication from the company was terrific! When I didn't receive a delivery confirmation, I emailed to ask. I received same day communication (10pm on a Saturday) to let me know my basket was delivered. And then I received another email on Monday morning. Great service!
The basket was great and good value. This was my first order and I will be ordering again, and have already recommended your service. Thanks
Excellent customer service. Will definitely use again.
I ordered two baskets for Rush Hashana. I was so happy that they arrived on time.
I didn’t see the baskets but the receivers said that they were beautiful !
A couple of weeks ago I had cause to complain to Mybaskets about items substituted in a gift package. Initially too it seemed my complaint had been ignored as I heard nothing back.
I'm pleased to say Mybaskets has resolved the issue and restored my faith as a customer. Thankyou Mybaskets
Hello unfortunately the recipient has not received the gift. I had to file a claim with UPS as they stated it was delivered but again the basket did not arrive at his home, I was so excited for him to receive it as it had great reviews.
